C. NEIGHBORHOODS
 

A series of neighborhood meetings were held to gather input, from six different areas of the city, on goals and objectives for the comprehensive plan. A detailed listing of comments from each of the neighborhood meetings can be found in Appendix B.
 

 Area A: Eastside, Northside, Burke Acres, and Mt. Olivet neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Industrial zoning
  • Gateways
  • Transit
  • Brownfield sites

Area B: Edison and Milwood neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Housing
  • Public transportation
  • Truck routes

Area C: Oakland/Winchell, Westnedge Hill, Parkview Hills, Hill-n-Brook, Oakwood, and South Westnedge neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Traffic
  • Protection of lakes
  • Intergovernmental coordination

Area D: Westwood, Arcadia, and Knollwood neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Traffic
  • Open space
  • Bike and pedestrian transportation

Area E: West Douglas, Stuart, and West Main Hill neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Economic development
  • Traffic and traffic alternatives
  • Aesthetics

Area F: Vine, Western Michigan University, and Downtown neighborhoods concerns included:

  • Mixed use
  • Pedestrian traffic
  • Improve the CBD
